Reasons to Call Baby’s Doctor
Axillary temperature of over 99.6ºF or less than 97ºF.
Vomiting (not spitting up) 2-3 times in a day.
Diarrhea: 2 or more very watery stools. (Breast milk and some formulas can cause very loose, frequent stools.)
Unusually quiet, limp or fussy.
Unusual amount of crying and/or can’t be comforted.
Not eating more than 2 feedings in a row.
Less than expected number of diapers per day (6 wet, 3 dirty).
Unusual skin rash.
Breathing fast (more than 60 times a minute) while resting.
Bleeding that does not stop with pressure.
Drainage or bad smell from umbilical cord.
No wet diaper within 18 hours after circumcision.
Unusual swelling, bleeding or discharge from circumcision.
Plastibell circumcision ring does not fall off within 3 weeks.
Plastibell circumcision ring has slipped down onto shaft of penis.
Jaundice (yellow skin color), especially if not eating well.
