What type of breast pump is best?

I need to purchase a breast pump. Are certain brands better? What's a realistic cost range?

A product from SimpleWishes

I've been using a hands free breast pump that I purchased from SimpleWishes and it was totally great! The fit, size, comfort, quality and all. I've been using this for more than 3 months now. I'm a single mom that needs to work and take care of my daughter. SimpleWishes gives me all the answers to my questions. This is the best thing had happen to me and my daughter for having a healthy and happy life.

I could highly recommend you this and give it a try on getting one from SimpleWishes (click here)

Manual breast pumps are

Manual breast pumps are reliable, though, since they have no mechanical parts to break down. Avoid bicycle horn style manual pumps. Though cheap, they can damage breast tissue and harbor bacteria in the rubber suction bulb, which is difficult to clean.

Cost

I forgot to mention that you will probably spend about $250 - $300 for a quality breast pump. I'm sure there are other good brands, but my friends and I have had excellent luck with the Medela line. Also, if I remember correctly, you can rent for about $35 a month or so.

Breast pump

I also recommend the Medela Pump-in-Style. I actually had two ... I kept one at home and had one at work. I know it's not recommended, but the extra one I borrowed from a friend. You can buy all the tubes and horns and bottles (the stuff that touches your body and the milk) that go with the actual machine separately, which is what I did. It was so nice not to haul the one back and forth to the office. I used it all the time -- three times a day at work, and often once in the middle of the night when my son started sleeping through the night but I couldn't yet make it comfortably through the night without pumping. Please note, you can rent breast pumps from hospitals ... if you know you are only going to use it for a couple months or so, this may be a good, less expensive route. The rentals are usually high-quality pumps that get the job done. Oh, and you can also buy a bra that is made for hands-free pumping ... highly recommended if you have to pump at work! It allows you to read, check e-mail or do whatever for the time that you're pumping. It's super funny looking but very handy.

Well it all depends on what

Well it all depends on what and how often you will be using your breast pump. If you are going back to work, then it is worth is to invest in a higher quality electric double pump like the Pump in Style. But, if you are staying home and just pumping on occasion when engorged, going out, etc. you may not need something so fancy. A single pump or even a manual may work for you.

breast pump recommendation

I have the Pump In Style® Advanced Breast pump Backpack 2008 and have used it with all 3 of my children. It is great. I initially purchased a single hand pump one and STRONGLY recommend against this. It was a big waste of time and money. You will never sit there and pump by hand unless you are looking to also have killer forearm muscles. Also if you are able to pump from both sides simultaneously you will cut your pumping time in half and with a new born time is very valuable!
