There are definitely varying opinions as to proper sleep schedules and routines. It will also vary with families. I do feel that after two months old, you should be able to have a schedule/routine that is consistent. I also believe having a routine will help to create healthy sleep patterns. To start, you will want to establish a consistent place to sleep and use your child's same crib for both naps and nighttime sleep. At this age you can also start to put your child down drowsy, but not fully asleep. Most children are able to self sooth at about 4 months old and so may still require your attention at this age if they do get upset. Consistency is the best factor to creating a successful schedule and routine.
